What is the difference between WHAT to think and HOW to think?
I think the only solution to master life is to harness our thoughts and emotions, choose them and direct them.
Unfortunately, we have always been taught WHAT to think. First by our parents, then at school, later on at work and all along by the media and other social outlets. We rarely, if ever, learned HOW to think!
We were never taught to choose and pick our thoughts, control our emotions but we were always invaded and controlled by them!
Here is what happens when we only know what to think:
When we have only learned WHAT to think, we have to depend on something outside of us to show up and match what we believe to be true and when something different outside of that frame happens and conflicts with our views of the world, we fight and react and we go to the fight or flight mode. We will react to life and whatever it throws at us!
When we learn HOW to think, we are the master and we can control and guide our own reactions, our feeling and our behaviour to any situation because we can choose and pick the right thought and control the emotions as they surge through us and that control gives us confidence, choice and options.
Too bad most of us learn HOW to think much later in life!
Let's teach our kids to choose and pick their thoughts. Let them know they are in control of their lives and they should design and not react to life.
