Courage
"Fear, the worst of all enemies, can be effectively cured by forced repetition of acts of courage." This quote is from one of the best books ever written on personal development and science of getting rich in all areas of life, Think and Grow Rich.
I had read this book casually when an in-depth study was offered by my great mentors, Paul and Roddy. It was only after the in-depth study that I did twice that I had finally a good grasp and understanding of the book and its life changing concepts. My mentors taught this book through their own life lessons and experiences and they made me think about my own life lessons and experience, so I can make sense of the great wisdom in this book.
I learned that it is only through reflecting on our own life and finding the examples from our experience and life lessons that we can learn and understand things.
The first step in the process though is RESISTENCE when our we are exposed to new information. After, it comes REFLECTION and REEVALUATION. Then, INTERRUPTION in the old habits and behavior and eventually by REPETITION, the shift happens and the new reality is manifested.
It took me a while to understand this particular quote though as it required the RIGHT ACTION! Brian Tracy says “If you feel a certain way, you will act in a manner consistent with that feeling. But if you act in a way that is consistent with that feeling, the law will create that feeling for you even if you weren’t originally feeling that way. This is called the Law of Reversibility."
In other words, when you take courageous action, the law of reversibility will instill courage in you even if you were feeling afraid earlier.
So, when we are afraid, we need to go through the same process. First, we resist to take action, then we think about it and evaluate the reasons to do it or not. The next step would be the interruption in the way we think about taking action and eventually by repeating this thought pattern, the shift happens and we will take the action.
You might think this is a lengthy process and the answer is yes but only at first. With repetition, as the Law of Reversibility says, our mind learns to stay courageous and taking action becomes easier and faster.
Let's think about this lesson. Let's find the examples from our life, so this lesson can be learned and understood.
